In The Netherlands the authorities (Ministry of Transport and RDW) have started up a testproject with longer and heavier truck combinations (in Dutch: Langere en Zwaardere Vrachtwagens (LZV)). This test takes the period from 1 March 2004 till 1 November 2006. In this test is possible to drive with truck combinations of maximum 60 ton and a maximum length of 25,25 mtr. Within this project it is possible to transport 3x 20’ containers (or an equivalent of this). D-TEC has delivered several B – Double combinations for this project. D-TEC is the only company who delivered the D-TEC B – Double to two German customers. D-TEC’s B – Double For this project D-TEC developed a COMBIDOLLY. A Combidolly is a kind of a Combitrailer with on the rear part a fifth wheel coupling. On this coupling you can couple another Combitrailer®, so that a B-Double combination exists, see picture bellow. However, less flexible, a Flexitrailer can also be fitted behind this Combidolly. The both front parts of the Combidolly and the Combitrailer® are technical the same. Through this you can exchange the front parts (with the container on it) which will help you transporting containers with always the right axle loads. Your big advantage with this B – Double combination that you can transport as well as a 20’ and a 40’ container. In case of transporting 3x 20’ containers you can load/unload the containers at the same time (by dividing the trailer parts).LZV EN.pdf
