D-TEC B.V. has developed a controlled VMA fertilizer tank trailer (in Belgium also known as the “bear trailer”), which meets the specific Belgian Brugreglement (Bridge Regulation). This traffic regulation states that the distance between the first truck axle and the second trailer axle has to be at least 10 metres, in order to be able to achieve the statutory total weight of 45 tonnes for truck and trailer.Thoelen Varkens- en Mesthandel from Peer is the first Belgian buyer. The company made this investment, because this fertilizer tank trailer enables the best possible load factor in respect of the total weight to be achieved – within the statutory Belgian frameworks.Best load factor.The stainless steel tank trailer has a volume of 31m3. The trailer is fitted with the VMA mechanical steering system, which gives the truck-trailer combination a significant degree of manoeuvrability and the tyres an extremely long life span. Despite the fact that the trailer is fitted with a wash bulkhead, rinse pipe and the aforementioned VMA steering system, its self-weight is just 7.2 tonnes.
