KESTEREN/ROTTERDAM
– On the 25th of November, BCTN received the first D-TEC Portmaster.
Up to the end of January 2017, D-TEC has supplied a total of 34 new Portmasters
to BCTN, one of the first players in the area of intermodal container transport
and transhipment in the Netherlands. “We selected the D-TEC Portmaster because
of its multi-functional usability, the robust built of its chassis and the
right price-quality ratio,” says Wim Busser, Purchase & Support Director at
BCTN.
BCTN has five terminals: four in the
Netherlands and one in Belgium.
Cost saving By acquiring the new D-TEC chassis, BCTN can uncouple the chassis including container directly
at its customers. This means fewer separate rides for the trucks. This also ensures
less burden on the environment and fewer traffic jams. The D-TEC Portmaster is very
suitable for short drives around the terminal, among other advantages. The chassis
can be adjusted easily to other container sizes. Furthermore, the chassis is
equipped with a Track & Trace system and a kingpin lock. Thanks to the Track
& Trace system, both BCTN and its customer can see where the chassis is
located. The kingpin lock guarantees extra safety, reducing the chance of
chassis theft to nearly zero.
Lowest costs per kilometre When developing its trailers, D-TEC always focuses on low consumption costs.
“For example, every 1,000 kilos less weight of the chassis delivers one litre
of diesel saving per 100 kilometres,” says Gerrit Van Vlastuin, director of
D-TEC. He bases this on figures from NEA, etc. D-TEC achieves light trailer
weight by using quality steel with high strength level. Ultimately, this is
about the lowest costs per kilometre: lift
up your profit!
