Thousand kilogram lighter Points of attention in the development were 5 S’s: Save costs, Solid quality, Simple to use, Safety and Sight. ‘Therefore this chassis is called S-line’, Folmer said smiling. ‘The cost savings are generated in the first instance by the extremely low deadweight. With a weight of approximately 4.6 tons, this Flexitrailer is the lightest multifunctional container trailer. For comparison: The average European competitor weighs 5.6 tons. With the rule of thumb that a 1000 kg reduction in weight saves 1 liter of fuel per 100 kilometers, it is clear that clients can save around 1500 liters of fuel per year with the D-TEC Flexitrailer LS. We base this on various studies, including the research carried out by Nordic Road and Transport Research and the NEA.
Safer Furthermore, drivers will experience more ease. Folmer: "The extension spindle and locking pin at the rear have now been integrated, so that only one action is required to either slide out and lock the rear section. The locking at the front has been made “smarter” so that the driver is required to get out of his cabin once less when adjusting the length."The Flexitrailer LS has also won safety because of the slightly longer wheelbase for transporting a 20ft container. As a result, the fifth wheel pressure is improved with 10%.
Increased gloss The new Flexitrailer also has a different look. ‘Since the start of 2012 D-TEC has an in-house painting shop. Here we sand-blast, flame spray and paint the trailers. We have increased the layer thickness of the coating. Thanks to the increased gloss appearance is beautiful! "Says an enthusiastic Folmer.
